In May of 2008 a dream came true for mother and daughter, Sharon and Sabrina, when they were able to purchase their favorite tea room, The Chatterbox Coffee and Tea Café.  The Chatterbox has been serving the Smyrna, TN area for over 10 years.  We are located in a little log cabin close to the heart of down town Smyrna. About our teas -

Our selection of teas range from green, oolong, black, and rooibos teas.  We have over 50 varieties on our “Wall of Teas”.  If  you can not decide which one to try, just ask one of the well trained staff and we will be glad to make some suggestions.

True teas come from the leaves of the camellia sinensis bush…  The different types of true teas are determined by the processing of the tea leaves. They are as follows:

White teas—start with the two young leaves and the bud.  These tender leaves go through a long withering process and are lightly-oxidized by a natural process such as the sun.

Green Teas—The tea leaves are steamed or wok fired, rolled and dried which only allows for minimal oxidation.

Oolong Teas—The leaves for this tea is only partially oxidized, rolled then dried.  An in-between tea of the green and black variety.

Black Tea—The leaves are bruised, then oxidized for several hours and then dried with high heat.

Other “Teas” such as rooibos, herbals, and infusions may not be true teas because they do not have leaves from the camellia sinensis bush, which gives tea its distinct characteristics, but they are still delicious and worthy of the fine china.
